There are all kinds of discounts offered to emergency workers on the Blue Light Card. But who exactly can join this program and is it worthwhile?

Who qualifies for the Blue Light Card?

The Blue Light Card is a great way to save money on a range of purchases and who’s more worthy to receive them than our brave emergency service workers, however, this scheme isn’t just for the Emergency Services. It’s available to anyone who works as a paid employee for the following:

HM Armed Forces
MoD Civil Servant, Fire Service, Police
Highways Agency
Border Force
Immigration Enforcement

The card is also available to some retirees:

What can I use the Blue Light Card for?

Blue Light Card membership gives you access to some amazing high street discounts across a range of top retailers – many not available to the general public. But it’s not restricted to just shopping, you can find better deals on car insurance, local services and days out.

How do I get my Blue Light Card?

To register, you will need to provide the following information:

Full Name
Address
Company information, along with division (if applicable) and job role.
Email address
Password

Upon acceptance into the scheme, your address details will be needed if you want a physical card sent to you. A virtual card, that Blue Light Card recently unveiled, works in the same way as a physical card, but you’ll access it through the app on your phone.

The membership fee, which includes a physical card, is £4.99 and is valid for two years.

How do I claim the discount?

It depends on the company if you can show your Blue Light Card in-store and get you a discount. Some bigger chains only give discounts if you purchase a gift card or use the Blue Light Card website (or app).

A promo code is required to claim the discount if you’re shopping online. You can request the code from the BLC app or website. The code will be emailed to you.
